Laser micromachining / Micro- and nanostructuring / Research leadership

Petr Hauschwitz

I lead laser micromachining research at HiLASE Centre, focusing on high-throughput laser processes for functional micro- and nanostructured surfaces. The work spans multi-beam processing, beam shaping, and industrial applications. I also founded HoloRing.

Areas of work

Laser research and practical applications.

Petr's HiLASE research, technology-transfer work, and HoloRing are described separately below.

01 / Research

Laser micro- and nanostructuring

Research on functional surfaces, ultrashort-pulse processing, and precise control of structures from micrometre to nanometre scale.

HiLASE profile
02 / Scale

Multi-beam processing and beam shaping

Methods that increase processing throughput while preserving repeatability across larger areas and industrially relevant materials.

Research overview
03 / Venture

HoloRing

An independent jewelry venture using precision laser engraving and selected holographic surface patterns to make personal rings.

Founder story

Research focus

Scaling laser micro- and nanostructuring.

Petr Hauschwitz has worked at HiLASE Centre, part of the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, since 2016 and has led its Laser Micromachining research group since 2019. His work connects control at the micro- and nanoscale with the throughput, repeatability, and materials range needed for industrial use.

Methods

  • Multi-beam laser processing
  • Direct laser interference patterning (DLIP)
  • Diffractive optical elements (DOE)
  • Spatial light modulator beam shaping (SLM)
  • Picosecond and nanosecond laser processing

Surface functions

  • Wettability, self-cleaning, and anti-icing
  • Friction and adhesion control
  • Biocompatible and antibacterial behavior
  • Optical response and anti-reflection

Materials

  • Metals and alloys
  • Glass and dielectrics
  • Polymers and composite materials
